Over the past 9 years, NFP (previously under the Food & Business Knowledge Platform) has explored sustainable pathways forward in the food security–stability nexus through the Community of Practice (CoP) on Food Security & Stability. Spurred by the growing recognition that conflict and instability are key drivers of rising global hunger, this CoP was formed to explore how and which food security interventions can contribute to more resilient households, communities, and food systems.

The second round of the NL-CGIAR Senior Expert Programme II is now open for applications. Call open for Senior Experts: transformation of global food, land, and water systems with CGIAR

In 2024, NFP launched its first true pricing seed fund with the aim to stimulate initiatives that focus on true pricing or true cost accounting within food value chains that have significant impact on social and/or environmental costs in LMICs. Grants were awarded to ILRI Ethiopia, Fairfood, and RDNA (Egypt's premium health food store). In this article, we highlight the results of RDNA’s project.

The UN Food Systems Stocktake+4 has concluded: three days of engagement featuring field trips, high-level dialogue, diverse perspectives, networking, and reflection on the progress and challenges in transforming our food systems. Hosted in Addis Ababa by the governments of Ethiopia and Italy, in collaboration with the UN Food Systems Coordination Hub, the event convened ministers, national convenors, civil society, private sector leaders, researchers, and international organisations from around the world. Nearly 3,000 delegates attended, showing strong global, especially African, engagement.

With the annual return of the LVVN Attaché network to the Netherlands in June 2025, the Netherlands Food Partnership (NFP), in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality (LVVN), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA), the Dutch Research Council (NWO) and CGIAR, hosted an engaging dialogue to explore strategic opportunities for enhancing global food security through research-policy collaboration. Through sharing of experiences and ideas the session explored opportunities to ensure that the CGIAR research infrastructure can be more effectively linked to Dutch diplomatic efforts and international food security programming.

Report Roundtable 'Connecting interests - linking local needs with Dutch goals'

Transforming food systems can't wait, and responding requires coordinated, purposeful action. In 2024, 295.3 million people faced high levels of acute food insecurity – an increase of almost 5 percent, or 13.7 million people, compared to 2023. This marks the sixth consecutive annual increase¹. At the same time, 783 million people worldwide face chronic hunger. Together with our partners across the Netherlands and beyond, we at the Netherlands Food Partnership aim to help reverse these trends and contribute to tangible progress on SDG2 and interconnected sustainable development priorities.

On 18 June 2025, thirty experts gathered in Utrecht to explore how the Dutch contribution to food systems transformation in LMICs can be strengthened. The session included a keynote from Corinna Hawkes (FAO) on embracing complexity through systems thinking, knowing, and doing. Annie Trevenen-Jones and Kris Woltering (GAIN) shared insights from the Nourishing Food Pathways programme, focused on strengthening government-led food system policy and delivery. Paulina Bizzotto Molina (WUR) reflected on lessons from the DeSIRA Initiative, emphasizing the importance of strengthening knowledge ecosystems.
