Who are the 1st cohort of the Food System Finance e-course 2025 ?

Will the outcomes of the recent UN Climate Summit improve the realities of farmers and consumers facing the harshest impacts of climate change? Will they be able to co-create the solutions that work best in their setting? This is the challenge many of our network partners from civil society, research and private and public sector had in mind when heading to Belém. This article provides a short and preliminary overview of the Climate Summit outcomes.

COP30: an implementation COP?

“Building partnerships is not a linear process. It is a lot of going back and forth, really understanding the local context,” explained Gert Jan Becx (TRAIDE) at the 2025 NFP World Food Day in The Hague. This particularly applies to partnerships with African small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The experiences of Dutch SMEs that are active in Africa show that interesting business opportunities can be co-created in African “pre-competitive markets”. The lessons learnt and insights for future collaborative action were discussed in a WFD side-event cohosted by foodFIRST, TRAIDE and Netherlands Food Partnership.

The Role of Finance in Food Systems Transformation – Webinar

The 7th Edition of World Food Day took place on October 16th in The Hague, the Netherlands, hosted by the Netherlands Food Partnership in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Food Security & Nature. Under this year’s theme, “Partnerships that Feed the Future,” more than 500 participants from NGOs, businesses, government, and civil society engaged in insightful conversations exploring how collaboration can drive sustainable change and ensure long-term food security, healthy ecosystems, and resilient economies.

Food systems and agriculture in the global climate negotiations (COP30)

These grants are awarded as part of the NL-CGIAR Water-Food Nexus call. The transdisciplinary consortia will study the scaling of soil moisture retention practices for smallholder farmers in rainfed agri-food systems. With the increased severity of dry spells, increasing the moisture holding capacity of the soil works as a buffer against agricultural production losses. The research focuses specifically on socio-economic and governance aspects of scaling soil water retention practices. The research projects take place in Kenya, Ethiopia, Uganda, Benin, Burkina Faso, Niger, Mali en Nigeria.

Six international consortia receive funding to improve soil moisture retention in Sub-Saharan Africa

From 15–17 October 2025, ten representatives from leading Egyptian agri-food companies took part in a study tour to the Netherlands. The visit was co-organised by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Cairo, the Netherlands Food Partnership (NFP), and HollandDoor, and forms part of a broader ambition to strengthen Egypt’s agricultural technical and vocational education and training (TVET) landscape through international cooperation.
