Event by Co-organized by IFPRI and the Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT, under the CGIAR Science Program on Multifunctional Landscapes and the World Food Bank

Agriculture is both a major driver of biodiversity loss and a crucial part of the solution.

This seminar will present research and evidence from the World Bank report Rooted: Agriculture Rooted in Biodiversity, highlighting why biodiversity is essential for resilient, sustainable, and productive agricultural systems.

This event will explore how bundles of sustainable agriculture practices at farm and landscape levels, together with enabling policy reforms, can support context-tailored transitions aligned with Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), National Biodiversity Strategies and Action Plans (NBSAPs), and the Global Biodiversity Framework.

Discussions will also highlight implementation through CGIAR’s Program on Multifunctional Landscapes, emphasizing the role of geospatial baselines, monitoring systems, and finance in scaling on-the-ground action and guiding restoration and biodiversity outcomes across landscapes.
