NL-CGIAR Strategic Partnership seminar: Sustainable Food Systems in a Polarized World.

On 17 April NWO, together with CGIAR and the Netherlands Food Partnership, will host an online matchmaking session for the call for Senior Experts of the NL-CGIAR Senior Expert Programme II. The aim of this session is to connect Senior researchers from Dutch organisations with CGIAR Research Initiatives, Impact area Platforms and the Private Partnerships for Impact unit (PP4I), in order to co-develop the Senior Expert assignment.

During a lively discussion at the Dutch Pavilion at the Agro-Food trade show in Lagos three main takeaways were identified. For building lasting and effective partnerships three elements are essential:
1.  TRUST. No cooperation without trust
2. BROAD DIVERSITY of stakeholders
3. EXIT STRATEGY - when will participants exit and what will remain in place


Specific attention was asked for youth in the Nigerian context: not only they should be included, but also the enabling environment for their specific needs such as access to finance, networks, knowledge should be improved.

The master class is geared to farmers and dairy advisors. The master class will improve the knowledge and skills of trainees, so that they can confidently use the Rumen8 software application to make informed on-farm nutrition decisions to improve farm profits.
