Dairy Food System Partnership

A coalition and learning community bridging public, private and knowledge partners to drive sustainable dairy transformation in Ethiopia, Kenya and Uganda.

Join the Dairy Food Systems Partnership (DairyFSP)—an impactful coalition and active learning community dedicated to driving tangible change. By bridging public and private sectors, civil society, and knowlegde institutions, we foster meaningful collaboration. We build powerful alliances with international coalitions and local partners to optimise our reach and effectiveness. Leveraging current investments and initiatives, we unlock innovation, generate added value, and harness collective insights to ensure we grow and succeed together.

The dairy industry plays a central role in global nutrition. Beyond its widespread dietary significance, dairy farming and processing serve as critical economic drivers, supporting rural livelihoods and bolstering national economies. Driven by population growth and evolving dietary preferences, the global demand for dairy products continues to expand. Milk and dairy items contribute significantly to diet diversification by providing high-quality protein and highly bioavailable micronutrients. Incorporated into balanced diets, appropriate dairy intake fulfills the nutritional needs of both healthy populations and vulnerable groups.

DairyFSP links sustainable development to business opportunities to drive measurable long lasting-impact. Our focus is to co-creating a shared vision and develop an integrated sector agenda for sustainable dairy transformation, starting in Ethiopia, Kenya and Uganda. Challenges in East African dairy sectors lie in raising productivity, quality and safety, and efficiency of production while increasing climate resilience, reducing the environmental footprint, optimising resource efficiency, and creating jobs and income.
