E-course Food Systems 2025 : it’s a wrap !

Another exciting edition of the food systems e-course has come to a close — packed with learning, collaboration, and fresh ideas. From online modules to hands-on workshops, hundreds of participants explored what it really takes to transform food systems.
With network events in Cairo, Addis and Nairobi, the e-course on food systems - edition 2025 came to a lively close. We started in February with the selection of 800 learners out of thousands of applications. In the individual track, 428 participants finalized the 4 modules on the e-course. This edition also welcomed 16 teams who signed up for the e-course plus four more workshops with practical exercises.
As in the previous years, we invited participants to write blogs on food systems. This harvest has 11 compelling voices – seven men and four women – from Nigeria, Kenya, South Sudan, Ghana, Namibia, Malawi, and Germany. Each author offers insights into the people and practices shaping Africa’s food systems from the bottom up. From grain dryers along rural roads in Nigeria and vibrant local markets in Malawi, to youth-led agricultural cooperatives in South Sudan and recognising the role of youth and women in Ghana, the blogs highlight both challenges and breakthroughs. Themes range from inclusive governance, agroecology, and informal food networks to gender equity, youth innovation, and climate-smart farming.
Across the board, the writers underscore a common truth: food systems don’t transform through policy alone – they transform through people. Together, the blogs form a mosaic of hope, resilience, and practical vision for a more inclusive and sustainable food future. Find them here: https://www.nfpconnects.com/to...
NFP plans to offer the e-course again in 2026 with new elements. While we value individual learning, our ambition is also to inspire organisations and networks to apply the food system approach in their interventions. This is why we started the team training with practical exercises: rich picture, stakeholder analysis, food system mapping, exploring leverage points in teams' own study cases. These exercises help to apply food system thinking in the practice of our partner organisations.
This edition of the e-course was also special as the Food Systems summit is coming up next month in Addis Abeba.
