A sneak peek into our 2026 plans!

We are very excited to share what’s coming up for the NFP Biodiversity & Food Systems Partnership in 2026!
Launched in 2025, our partnership brings together members from over 150 organizations worldwide, committed to collaborate on enhancing synergies and addressing tradeoffs between biodiversity and food security, spanning government (15%), private sector including farmer organisations (20%), civil society (30%), research (30%) and network organizations (5%). Gender-balanced (51% female, 49% male) and intergenerational (31% under the age of 35 years), the partnership creates a unique, safe and diverse space for co-creation, learning and action. After our first fully operational year, we are stepping into 2026 with fresh energy and a clear focus: deepening the activities that our partners have told us are most valuable to them after a joint evaluation, reflection and planning process at the end of 2025..
Rather than broadening the scope this year, we want to build on what’s already working, the new connections being sparked across the network, the shared learning that’s growing, and the opportunities that can help accelerate real shifts in practice towards more sustainable futures. And as always… we want to hear from you. Where do you feel most energized to contribute, collaborate, and learn with us!
Facilitation of connections and opportunities
Our partnership now includes over 150 organizations across more than 25 countries working to connect biodiversity and food security in practice and policy, across sectors and scales. We’ll continue to support this amazing community by facilitating opportunities to connect, to learn and to find opportunities for collaboration, with quarterly community calls and a new online platform that makes it easier to connect, share opportunities, share questions and spark ideas with one another.
Keeping the Use Case Bundle momentum going
Last year we launched a Food & Biodiversity use case bundle featuring 10 inspiring partner journeys showing how biodiversity and food systems integration is already happening. Collectively they illustrate how biodiversity and food systems integration is already happening in practice and what it actually takes to make it work. This year we are looking into opportunities to keep the momentum around the bundle and learning about transformation in practice going. We are therefore on the lookout for new journeys to share about and new creative ways to bring them to life.
And there will be more coming soon, with the launch of the Food & Biodiversity Conversation Starter Toolkit that we have developed together with KandsCollective and Glocolearning. This accompanies the ten learning journeys as a practical facilitation resource and aims to support biodiversity and food systems champions to convene conversations that surface linkages, compare perspectives, and explore where action might begin.
Capacity and networks that move the needle
Strengthening capacities and building connections remains a key focus in our partnership this year. Some highlights that we have already been able to flag:
Launching shared messages on biodiversity and food systems that has been co-shaped and developed with our partners through an active Working Group, co-lead by a team from Convene.
Following developments and facilitating shared strategic engagement towards COP17 of the UN Convention on Biological Diversity and potential events such as an IPBES NL Day and World Biodiversity Forum.
Exploring in-person and in-country co-creation and co-learning workshops, so we can connect beyond screens, meet face to face and deepen collaboration and actions in specific contexts.
Supporting integration into practice
Together with Impact Hub Amsterdam and Wasafiri, we are in the process of developing a program that will support partnerships working towards improving food security in Low and Middle Income Countries to be better able to articulate biodiversity - food system linkages in their efforts as well as identify strategic opportunities to better act on them. We are aiming to run the first pilot of the resulting program this year.
We can only do this together!
We are thrilled about the year ahead, and now for a fact that we could not have such an amazing plan full of exciting activities without the contributions and efforts of our partners who all contribute in their own way, shape and form.
Upcoming: Our first 2026 community Network Call
We already scheduled the first moment for our partners in this partnership to come together (online). Also eager to join and see how you can contribute to our collective efforts and meet amazing new potential partners along the way? If so, we invite you to register to the partnership!
