Now available: seven 2-pagers from the Senior Experts of the NL-CGIAR Strategic Partnership

The Netherlands has been supporting and contributing to CGIAR since 2015. The main part of the partnership consists of direct support to the CGIAR System and specific CGIAR Research Programs (CRPs) in which many Dutch researchers are involved. To strengthen collaboration and alignment, additional instruments are available through which complementary knowledge, experiences and networks on various focus topics are shared between CGIAR and Dutch partners. Therefore also offering a multitude of opportunities to provide support to CGIAR’s current transition, in addition to all relevant views and input shared by other organizations and institutions.

One such instrument under the Strategic Partnership is the Senior Expert Programme (SEP). This programme aims to contribute to the mutual benefit of partnering between CRPs, CGIAR Platforms and Dutch knowledge institutes and stakeholders by enabling Netherlands based senior experts to spend more time on their CGIAR research and research management. These experts are situated right in the middle of the transition and can offer a relevant view on the ongoing developments by especially keeping in mind the current knowledge domains and cross-cutting priorities of the Strategic Partnership and their ideas on the future agenda of food systems research.

To discuss the ongoing changes in CGIAR, the seventeen Senior Experts funded in this programme held an online meeting on ‘How to contribute to One CGIAR’ in December, 2020. They decided to contribute by sharing their views on CGIAR’s developments in seven two-pagers on key research challenges within the One CGIAR Impact Areas. How these areas interact with Dutch policy priorities and how the challenges could be addressed and strengthened.
