Podcast | Once you see it: Finding Biodiversity and Building a Global Partnership

Question: How often do you talk in depth about the work that you do?
I usually give an elevator pitch or focus on one specific detail that is relevant in a certain situation. Useful, but I’m not sure it ever really grasps the full extent of what it means to be a partnership builder. Crossing sectors and scales, finding the energy to build new and transformative connections. But now there was an opportunity to share about it for 50 minutes.
Roseline and I sat down with our own Netherlands Food Partnership podcast rockstar Mark Fonseca Rendeiro, to talk about the Biodiversity and Food Systems Partnership that we set up and co-facilitate.
The partnership now includes contributions of over 160 members, from around 150 different organizations from the private sector, civil society, research and policy. The energy to ensure that our collective efforts enable more sustainable transformations for food and planet is tangible within that growing community.
But then still remains unanswered… what do you do? 🤔
A lot of listening. A lot of sensing. Making sure the right people find each other, and that what they care about can turn into shared action. Creating safe spaces where we can learn together, challenge each other, and move from ideas to real (but still challenging) steps. Keeping the bigger picture in view, while also working on the practical things that help a community grow and stay engaged. Not easy... but a whole lot of fun!
In the episode we go into what that looks like in practice, why the biodiversity food systems connection matters so much right now, and what we are learning along the way.
