Open Letter from 80+ organizations to accelerate food systems transformation within UNFCCC

A group of 80+ organizations and individuals have written an open letter that makes the case for including food systems within UNFCCC negotiations. As a community, the organisations stand ready to support efforts that accelerate ambitious action towards sustainable, resilient, healthy and equitable food systems. They offer support to the climate negotiation process by providing evidence, sharing knowledge, and hosting conversations and debates.
In the run up to the 28th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC COP28), a global coalition of 80 organisations and high-profile individuals has issued an urgent call to integrate a food systems approach within the UNFCCC. In a joint open letter, the coalition of leading international organisations – which includes WWF, Global Alliance for the Future of Food (GAFF),The Food Systems Partnership, Ikea Foundation and Food and Land Use Coalition (FOLU) – urges Parties to the UNFCCC to acknowledge the critical role of food systems – including food production, consumption and waste, land use change, and nutrition – in achieving the Paris Agreement goals. NFP supports this call and has cosigned the letter.
